Police Log

Information for this column comes from Sandy Police Department public records. The Sandy Police Department provides service in Estacada. Officers recently filed reports on the following incidents.

ARRESTS

Brandi L. Founds, 43, of Estacada was arrested Monday, June 23, after allegedly impeding traffic on Highway 224. Founds was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and lodged in the Clackamas County Jail. Bail was set at $3,500.

Christopher L. Devey, 31, of Estacada was arrested Saturday, June 28, on a Umatilla County warrant for failure to appear in court on a first-degree theft charge. He was held in the Clackamas County Jail on $50,000 bail.

Jennifer J. Wiese, 32, of Estacada was arrested Saturday, June 28, near Southeast Main Street and East First Avenue on a Multnomah County warrant for a parole violation. Wiese had been on parole for forgery. She was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Jessy O. Sargent, 52, of Estacada was arrested in the 400 block of Southwest Second Avenue on Saturday, June 28, for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended license. Sargent was held without bail in the Clackamas County Jail.

Donald J. Ostby, 40, of Estacada was arrested in the 400 block of Southwest Second Avenue on Saturday, June 28. Ostby was wanted on a Clackamas County warrant for failure to appear in court on charges of reckless burning, reckless endangering and second-degree criminal mischief. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000.

MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS

Police took a suicidal man to the hospital around 7 p.m. Monday, June 23. The man had made suicidal statements to another person and had tried to acquire a gun and ammunition.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 15, a white car struck a parked car in the Estacada High School parking lot.

On Saturday, June 28, police officers responded to the Old Mill Saloon after a young man punched a framed “No Minors” sign, breaking the glass and causing about $50 in damage. Police could not locate him.

SUICIDE

An officer was sent to investigate a death on Northeast Hill Road. The death is labeled as a suicide in police records. The body was taken into custody by the county medical examiner's office for further investigation. The deceased person’s family was informed of the death. Authorities are investigating.

THEFT

On Saturday, June 7, a resident of the 300 block of Southeast Main Street told police she had recovered a phone that was stolen from her a few weeks earlier. The woman gave police information on a suspect and a witness. There was sufficient information to arrest the suspect, but police had not yet contacted that person.

On Monday, June 9, a resident of the 700 block of Northeast Cascadia Ridge Drive told police that items had been stolen from her unlocked vehicle overnight. There are no suspects.

A resident of the 1000 block of Northeast Tailor Street told police Monday, June 9, that items from her unlocked vehicle had been stolen overnight. There are no suspects.

On Monday, June 9, a resident of the 1500 block of Norheast Gardiner Drive told police that $25 had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle overnight. No suspects.

On Tuesday, June 10, an officer responded to a report of stolen vehicle plates in the 1100 block of Northwest Park Avenue. The officer was told that on Sunday, June 8, the plates of a company vehicle had been stolen and placed on the suspect’s vehicle. Footage of the theft was caught on video surveillance. Police are investigating.

On Tuesday, June 10, a resident of the 1500 block of Northeast Gardiner Drive told police that a GPS unit had been stolen from his 2012 Ford Explorer. The unit was entered into law enforcement databases.

An officer documented a report of a theft in the 800 block of Northeast Hill Way on Tuesday, June 10. Police are investigating.

Police are investigating a report of items stolen from a storage unit in the 2300 block of Northwest Campus Drive sometime in the past six months. The victim was given a case number and a property loss form on Wednesday, June 18.

An officer responded to a theft at Estacada High School at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 18. Approximately $200 worth of items had been stolen from the school’s snack shack.

An officer responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle in the 200 block of Southeast Currin Street at 9:07 a.m. Wednesday, June 18. Items had been stolen from the vehicle sometime overnight. The victim later recovered the items, which had been strewn in a neighbor’s yard.

On Monday, June 23, a man told police that $650 worth of items had been stolen from his storage unit in the 2300 block of Northwest Campus Drive. The items were taken sometime between February and June 22 of this year.

An Estacada woman told police her car was broken into while she was inside a business in the 300 block of Southeast Highway 224 on Thursday, June 26. Damage to the car was estimated at $200. Her purse and its contents were also stolen. Their value was estimated at $300. No witnesses were reported.

TRESPASSING

16-year-old former Estacada High School student trespassed on school property Tuesday, June 3. Police contacted the teen and will forward a report to the Juvenile Department for consideration of further action.

Police responded to a report of three young men opening unlocked car doors in the 1500 block of Northeast Rockwell Drive on Monday, June 9. Officers spoke with several victims whose unlocked cars had been entered. They were unable to find the suspects.

OTHER

At 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, a resident of the 500 block of Southeast Shafford Street told police his vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle was entered into law enforcement data systems. However, later that day the elderly man remembered he had driven the vehicle near North Broadway Street and Southeast Third Avenue the evening before. He found his vehicle and notified police.
