Police Log


Information for this column comes from Sandy Police Department public records. The Sandy Police Department provides service in Estacada. Officers recently filed reports on the following incidents.


Police responded to a domestic disturbance near Northeast Pierce Street and Northeast Second Avenue on Thursday, July 17. The man and woman involved had minor injuries but officers could not determine who had been the primary aggressor. There were no witnesses to collaborate any of their statements. Police told them to separate for the night and avoid contacting each other.


At 7:18 p.m. Thursday, July 17, an officer responded to a hit-and-run vehicle crash in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of South Broadway Street. A witness had texted the victim a photo of the suspect’s vehicle and license plate. The next day the officer cited the suspected driver, Terry C. Gray, 52, of Sandy. Gray was cited into Clackamas County Circuit Court for hit-and-run and to the Estacada Municipal Court for driving while suspended and without insurance.


On Wednesday, July 16, a man told police he had rented a U-Haul truck to help family move to Idaho. The truck was supposed to be returned to U-Haul in Lewiston, Idaho, on July 6, but it wasn’t. The officer entered the truck as stolen in law enforcement databases.


Police responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Street on Thursday, July 17. A customer had stolen prescription medication. The case is being forwarded to detectives.


At 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, police were informed that a company in the 2500 block of Northwest Campus Drive had attempted to a tow a vehicle for a parking violation. However, the vehicle’s owners jumped into the vehicle and sped off without paying for the tow.


An officer responded to a car accident at Highway 224 and Southwest Elm Road at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday, July 15. No one was injured, and both vehicles were driven away from the scene.


A resident of the 500 block of Southwest Dogwood Street told police her home had been trashed on Monday, July 14. Police found it was a civil problem between the woman and her brother.


An officer responded to Hi School Pharmacy at 4:16 p.m. Thursday, July 17. He was told that a 34-year-old woman had tried to leave without paying for merchandise, but she left without the merchandise when confronted. The officer found that the woman had been prohibited from returning to the store for five years on Oct. 31, 2011.


A resident of the 300 block of Southeast Main Street called police to report seeing a flashlight in the alley by his unit on Friday, July 18, and speculated that it may have been a tenant who had been recently evicted. Police did not find anyone upon arrival.

At 10:21 a.m. Saturday, July 19 a woman called the police about a restraining order violation in the 800 block of Northeast Hill Way. Police found that no violation had occurred.
