Executive director wanted for Community Center

The Estacada Community Center announced that it is searching for a new full-time executive director. The position is listed on several job search websites and a description of the job and application requirements is posted on the lobby bulletin board in the Community Center.

Meals on Wheels drivers needed

The Estacada Community Center announced in a press release that the center is in “desperate need” of Meals on Wheels drivers to deliver meals to community members in need of home-deliveries.

Drivers must pass a criminal background check, have transportation and proof of insurance.

Local family fundraising to modify van

The family of Bryten Figgins, a local 11-year-old with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) or “brittle bone disease” is fundraising to make repairs to their van to accommodate Figgins’ condition.

“We are trying to earn and raise money to repair the van, fix the AC, fix the brakes, add a trailer hitch and external carrier for the power chair, etc.,” Bryten’s mother Teryl wrote in an email. “If by some miracle we come up with extra money it will be used for gas, transportation to various appointments, modifications we are needing here at home, etc.”

Toward that end, the family has set up a GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/BrytensMedicalBlessings.

In addition, the family is holding a virtual 5 kilometer run called Stepping Out on Faith in which anyone may participate. To register, email This email address is being protected from spambots. City gets new bike racks

Thanks to funds from a grant from the Clackamas County Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Estacada has two new bike racks.

The racks, shaped like bikes, were installed in front of Fearless Brewing Company and Figaro’s Pizza in downtown Estacada.

Northwest Technologies manufactured the racks.

Chamber holds two ribbon cutting ceremonies

The Chamber of Commerce held back-to-back ribbon cutting ceremonies for Lew’s Drive-In and The Mason Jar on Thursday, July 31.

The ceremonies were well attended by city officials, Chamber of Commerce leaders and Rep. Bill Kennemer.

For months, Lew’s Drive-In has been serving hungry Estacadans from the Little Lews van in the Harvest Market parking lot, but the restaurant is nearing the official opening date for its indoor, ‘60s style restaurant next to the Estacada Area Food Bank.

The Mason Jar, a coffee shop, restaurant and gathering house opened in downtown Estacada on July 24.
