Here's your chance to tell us the stories about your lovable pets. Did one of them save your life? Does your pet have an usual trick?

OUTLOOK PHOTO: ANNE ENDICOTT - Do not be fooled. Behind Ty's golden disposition lies the soul of a very mischievous toddler. Seven-year-old Ty shares his home with Special Sections Editor Anne Endicott.

Always sniffing out a fun topic to write about, our newsroom staff is hot on the trail of this year's Pets & Their People special publication.

There are few topics as endearing to most people as the animals who share their homes. And that's for good reason.

Pets aren't like our family, they are our family.

That's what makes Pets & Their People one of our favorite annual special sections here at The Outlook, Sandy Post and Estacada News.

In previous editions, we told you about our neighbors with unusual pets — bearded dragons, 100-pound tortoises and a pot-bellied pig named Loki who enjoys taking walks on a leash.

We also introduced you to Reagan, an Australian Labradoodle, whose photo portfolio and celebrity status rivals one of the Kardashians. Reagan has appeared in People Magazine and boasts a staggering 88,000 followers on Instagram.

And since our critters are so much a part of who we are, Pets & Their People also features a pet look-alike photo contest. We're continuing that tradition again this year with prizes donated by local businesses.

But we can't do this without the help of our faithful readers.

Here's your chance to tell us the stories about your lovable pets. Did one of them save your life? Does your pet have an usual trick?

We want to hear about it. Send us

the story and photo of your extra-

ordinary animal via email. And please consider entering your photo in the pet look-alike contest. You have nothing to lose.

So come on, everybody — start sending those submissions to Special Sections Editor Anne Endicott at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. You can also call her at 503-492-5118. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, June 2.
