City Council OKs project with school district
During a meeting earlier this week, the Estacada City Council approved an agreement with the Estacada School District to develop approximately 20 acres of vacant district property and create access roads for the future Campanella Estates subdivision.
Previously, school board members approved the agreement during a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Per the agreement, the site north of Estacada High School will eventually be developed into sports fields for use by students, youth leagues and community groups. North Broadway Street and Northeast Hill Way will be extended across school district property near the area in order to connect to Campanella Estates and to ease traffic on Northeast Sixth Avenue near Estacada High School.
The city of Estacada will provide the school district with $130,000 to offset the costs of constructing a restroom facility and concession stand for the area.
The school district will pay for clearing the property for the sports field complex, construction of the complex and costs pertaining to the restroom facility and concession stand that exceed the city's contribution.
The city will receive ownership or a permanent easement for approximately four acres of school district property to the city for the extensions of North Broadway Street and Northeast Hill Way.
The city of Estacada's responsibilities will include extending North Broadway Street and Northeast Hill Way, installing sidewalks along the majority of Broadway Street, extending the city's water main to service the new sports complex area, provide two driveway approaches on Broadway Street to the school district's bus barn and installing storm water collection on the property.
