for Sept. 13, 2012

Reunion was resounding success

Thanks to all of the attendees at our 1970s Estacada High School reunion and thanks to the Estacada News for helping with our publicity.

We also wanted to thank all of the businesses that donated and we hope that we brought some business to Estacada on the date of our event.

We are working on selecting a date for next year.

Debbie Ketchersid, Estacada

Help from community appreciated

On behalf of The Route 26 Cruisers and The Old Time Cruise To Estacada, I would like to thank everyone that helped make our seventh year a success.

I was a little concerned about the weather forecast; they kept saying "thunder showers," but we had a very nice day.

We were a little down in cars so others must have been nervous, too. We had 95 vehicles this year, but even with the lower count the generosity was overwhelming and we actually made more money to donate to the Estacada Area Food Bank.

Barbara Shibley from the food bank came to our car club meeting last Tuesday and we were pleased to present her with a check for $2,100.

We know that this money will be put to good use and from what Barbara shared with us, this comes at a time when our community really needs all of our help.

I want to say thank you to the many businesses that supported our event: Figaro's Pizza, Estacada Body & Paint, Discovery Auto Glass, Estacada Les Schwab, Prokops TV Repair, Estacada Shell Station, Estacada Motorsports, The Legendary Safari Club, Eagle Foundry, Dick's Logging Supply, Boyles Electric, Paul Strobel-State Farm Insurance, Fearless Brewing, W.Warner Construction, Estacada Funeral Chapel, The Artsmith Printing, A&W/Taco Time, city of Estacada, Bob's Ford Parts, Wildcat Auto Wrecking, Chinook Winds Resort & Casino, Gresham O'Reilly Auto Parts, Mel-Ken Motors, Estacada US Bank, Wildhorse Resort & Casino, Estacada Chamber of Commerce, and The Clackamas County News for getting the information out and helping with local interest and a special thank you to The Cover Kings band for another day of great music.

Also, I would like to thank all of the local businesses that let me put flyers in their windows. It all helps to make a great event.

We are already planning for next year's show on Aug. 17, 2013. Put us on your calendar and look for more information as the year progresses.
