Around Town submissions

Pancake Breakfast

The Springwater Grange will hold its monthly pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Saturday, March 1. For $5, enjoy eggs cooked to order, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, juice and coffee.

Sunday Socials

Fearless Brewing Company will hold Sunday Socials from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sundays through May 18. The Sunday Socials will be a bit like speed dating, but more casual. It’s more about meeting people than romance. You’ll meet everyone regardless of age or gender. You’ll spend three to four minutes talking with someone, and when the bell rings you’ll move on to the next person. A casual social hour will follow. There will often be live music following the meetings. There is no cover charge for the socials.

Women’s Self-Defense Clinic

Magma Arts, a local martial arts group, will teach a free women’s self-defense clinic at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Estacada Public Library, 825 N.W. Wade St. Participants will learn how to escape holds and grabs and discuss other tools to stay safe. Space is limited. ARTS & CRAFTS

‘Being Earnest’

The Performing Arts Group of Estacada is bringing Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest,” the “trivial comedy for serious people” to the stage at the Estacada Community Auditorium at the Junior High. The show plays at 7 p.m. Thursday- Saturday, March 13-15 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16. Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted.

‘Old Time Gospel Sing-along’

There will be a free “Old Time Gospel Sing-along” from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Assembly of God Church Auditorium, 478 Wade St. Everyone is invited to the performance.

Quilt club meets

The Skip-a-Week Quilt Club meets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday at the Garfield Grange on Divers Road. For more information, call Ruth at 503-630-4669.

Spinning group

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.

FUNDRAISER

Book Nook Dollar Sale

All Book Nook books are going at prices no higher than one dollar for the month of March. The proceeds of the sale will cycle back to the community through gifts awarded by the Estacada Area Literary Foundation. Kids get an extra good deal: all children’s books are 25 cents with an additional free book to each child. The Book Nook is next door to The Artsmith behind Key Bank. Hours vary, but are generally 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

SERVICE AND SUPPORT GROUPS

Grief Share

The Grief Share group helps those who have lost a loved one find comfort and acceptance and to find the joy that remains in their lives. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. The group now meets from 2-3:30 p.m. Mondays at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church. For more information, call 503-630-5484.

AA offers hope

The Estacada friendship group of AA offers hope and help for the alcoholic who still suffers. Meetings are held from 7-8:30 p.m. every Monday and Friday at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Community Hall, 297 N. Al-Anon and Alateen

Do you have someone in your life who drinks too much? Al-Anon and Alateen meetings, just a 20 minute drive from Estacada, can help.

There are Al-Anon and Alateen meetings at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at Eastridge Church, 14100 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas.
