Old Time Gospel Sing-Along

It’s back! The next Old Time Gospel Sing-Along will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Estacada First Baptist Church, 29101 S.E. Eagle Creek Road. State of the arts

The Clackamas County Arts Alliance Advisory Council invites the public to a conversation of the state of the arts in Estacada 3:30-5 p.m., Thursday, June 12, in the Flora Room of the Estacada Public Library. Participants will share their experiences and to discuss how the Arts Alliance may assist.

Timber Festival

It’s on! Timber Park has been secured as the location for the 2014 Timber Festival. The festival runs from noon to midnight, Friday, July 4. A $10 parking fee per car grants free admission to all of the car’s occupants. Walk-ins are admitted for $5 each. Kids ages 10 and younger get in for free. Don’t forget to bring a blanket or chair for optimum viewing comfort. Quilt club meets

Spinning group

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.


Calligraphy Project

The William Stafford Calligraphy Project exhibit of Stafford’s calligraphic renderings, poems and writings will be on display at the Estacada Public Library through June 4. The exhibit will be traveling throughout Oregon in 2014 in honor of Stafford’s 100th birthday. Stafford is a former poet-laureate of Oregon. The show is presented by the Portland Society for Calligraphy. Computer tutorials

The Estacada Public Library offers weekly one-on-one computer tutorials on computer skills such as how to use email, Microsoft Word, social media, online security, eReaders, etc. Half-hour tutorials may be scheduled between 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays. Community Center

The Estacada Community Center offers free breakfast 8 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of each month.


A 5K run/walk fundraiser will be held for Ron Morfitt at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 1 at Eagle Fern Park. Registration is $25 and there is a $5 parking fee. Flowers in bloom

Peony season springs up at Elk Pass Nursery Fields at Elk Pass Nursery, 39100 S.E. Lusted Road, Boring, are open noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 1 and 8. Patrons may cut their own flowers, order divisions for fall planting or just enjoy the beauty of the fields. The bloom is weather dependent, so call ahead to make sure the peonies are open. The next meeting of the Clackamas County chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at the Atkinson Memorial Church, 710 Sixth St., Oregon City.

Grief Share

The Grief Share group helps those who have lost a loved one find comfort and acceptance and to find the joy that remains in their lives. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. The group now meets from 2-3:30 p.m. Mondays at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church. For more information, call 503-630-5484.

AA offers hope

The Estacada friendship group of AA offers hope and help for the alcoholic who still suffers. Meetings are held from 7-8:30 p.m. every Monday and Friday at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Community Hall, 297 N. Al-Anon and Alateen

If someone’s drinking bothers you, Al-Anon and Alateen can help.

Meetings are available just a 20 minute drive from Estacada at Eastridge Church, 14100 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas.

Alateen meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday.

Volunteers are needed for the upcoming Estacada Summer Celebration.

Celebration coordinators are seeking assistance with set-up and décor 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 26; street preparation 7-9 a.m. Saturday, July 27; children’s art booth set-up 8-10 a.m. Saturday, July 27; children’s art activities 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 1:30-4 p.m. Saturday, July 27; manning the volunteer check-in booth 10:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, July 27 and clean-up 10-11 p.m. Saturday, July 27.
