Clackamas River Elementary celebrates citizenship

by: ISABEL GAUTSCHI - Sandy/Estacada Police Chief Kim Yamashita and Officer Bill Wetherbee shake hands with citizenship award recipients at Clackamas River Elementary on Monday, May 19.Sandy/Estacada Police Chief Kim Yamashita and Officer Bill Wetherbee paid a visit to Clackamas River Elementary, but not because anyone was in trouble.

Quite the contrary.

The two attended an assembly on Monday, May 19, honoring the students’ commitment to citizenship.

Teachers had recommended students who had demonstrated excellent behavior throughout the year for citizenship awards.

After Yamashita spoke briefly with the students about staying safe over the summer, the students filed up for their citizenship award certificates and shook hands with Principal Seth Johnson, Wetherbee and Yamashita.
