American Legion/Auxiliary Fourth of July Breakfast

The American Legion and Auxiliary Carl Douglas Post No. 74 will celebrate the Fourth of July with a breakfast 7-11 a.m. Friday, July 4, at Odd Fellows Hall, 267 S.W. 2nd Ave.

For $6 a person, a menu of eggs, pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice will be served. Donations of soaps, lotions, notes, envelopes, combs, tooth paste and brushes are being sought to send to service personnel overseas.

1970s class reunion

All Estacada High School graduates from the 1970s are invited to a potluck-reunion noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Timber Bowl. Please bring canned food to donate.


The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive 1:30-7 p.m. Thursday, July 17 at the Clackamas Valley Baptist Church, 29275 S.E. Eagle Creek Road.

Northwest Nomad Association, Les Schwab Tires and the Multnomah Hot Rod Council are holding a Cruise-In 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 140 S.W. Frontage Road.

Summer Celebration

It’s almost time for the Summer Celebration!

The free event celebrates art, community, music and fun in downtown Estacada each year and is coordinated with the annual painting or restoration of an Artback Artists mural. The celebration is 6-10 p.m. Friday, July 25, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 26.

Learn to make a twisted twig basket for flowers or produce in a workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Wade Creek House, 664 N.W. Wade Street.

Second Friday

The Spiral Gallery will debut “RED,” a group art show from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 12. The gallery is at 341 Broadway St.

“The Ballad of Cate Parks” displayed at library

A series of mixed-media art works by local artist Nina Bradford are on display at the Estacada Public Library through Sept. 22.

While walking the paths along Burrard Inlet at Cates Park in Vancouver, B.C., Bradford came up with the fictional story of a young woman living in the 1800s who fell in love with a sailor.

The series is a visual diary of Cate Parks and presents not only the joy of love and sorrow of loss, but the relationship between people and the objects and world in which they live.

The show is presented in partnership with the Estacada Area Arts Commission.

Quilt club meets

Summer reading program event

As part of the library’s summer reading program, musician Rick Huddle will be at the Estacada Public Library 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9.


Free Summer Meal Program

The Estacada School District is offering free meals to children ages 18 and under at four sites through Aug. 16.

Breakfast will be served from 8:30-9 a.m. Monday through Friday at Clackamas River Elementary, 301 N.E. Second Ave.

Lunches will be available noon to 1 p.m. Monday-Friday at Clackamas River Elementary; 11:20-11:50 a.m. Monday-Friday at Eagle Crest Mobile Estates, 25800 S.E. Eagle Creek Rd; noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at Eagle Creek Elementary, 30391 S.E. Highway 211 and noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Estacada Skate Park/Library, 825 N.W. Wade Street. Adults may purchase breakfast for $2.50 and lunch for $3.50.

Community Center

The Estacada Community Center offers free breakfast 8 a.m. to noon the third Saturday of each month. The center is at 200 Southwest Club House Drive.


Garden Tour

The Wade Creek House’s Annual Estacada Garden Tour is right around the corner. The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19.

The tour gives views of local gardens to show what may be done in a small space then travels out of town to visit more spectacular, bigger gardens. If you get your ticket before the day of the tour at Wade Creek House or Planet Cup of Joe in Estacada or Sandy, the price is $10. Day-of tickets cost $15 or $25 for two.

Relay for Life

The Estacada Relay For Life begins at noon Saturday, July 19 at the Estacada High School and goes all night. The event will raise money to fight cancer. There will be live bands, great food, and lots of excitement.

Food Donations

The Estacada Relay for Life organizers are collecting canned food for the Estacada Area Food Bank. There are donation barrels at Les Schwab, Estacada Mini Storage, N.W. Technologies and the Estacada Liquor Store.

Food donations will be dropped off at the food bank on Sunday, July 20.


Foster Farm open for the season

Philip Foster Farm is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Aug. 31. The farm is geared toward all things pioneer and offers guests of all ages a variety of activities and an intimate look at one of Oregon’s first families. Guides are dressed in period costume. Admission costs $5 per person or $20 a family. Annual memberships are available for $15 per person or $35 per family. Members may visit the farm for free throughout 2014.


Community Center Board of Directors

The Friends of the Estacada Community Center Board of Directors meets 4 p.m. the third Thursday of every month at the center at 200 S.W. Clubhouse Drive. Meetings are open to the public.

Broadway Streetscape

Public information meetings on the Broadway Streetscape Project will be held the third Tuesday of each month July-September. The project will reconstruct public amenities on Broadway Street. Construction is set to begin in January 2015.

The meeting from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 will focus on landscaping and maintenance. The 6:30-8 p.m. meeting Tuesday, August 19 will center on design review and public art.

Design review and parking will be discussed 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16. The meetings will be held at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St.


Ranger guided canoe and kayak tours

Milo McIver State Park Rangers will lead canoe and kayak tours of the River Mill Reservoir throughout the summer.

The tours are an opportunity to learn about the history and ecology of the reservoir and to see a variety of plants animals.

Participants must be at least 6-years-old, and anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Kids ages 6-12 may not kayak on their own, but must be in a double kayak with an adult.

Canoe tours are led from 6-8 p.m. Mondays. Kayak tours are 6-8 p.m. Thursdays and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Sundays.

The tours cost $15 a person. Kayaks, paddles and life jackets are included in the cost.

Holy Spirit conference

The Estacada Assembly of God will host conferences on the Holy Spirit with special guests Tim and Rochelle Enloe at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 5, and at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6.

The conference will focus on “personal understanding, experiencing and ministering the Holy Spirit’s power along with anointed music, preaching of the word and seeking God.”

Fourth at the Center

The Community Center has several activities planned for Friday, July 4. First, the group will have breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at Odd Fellows Hall, 267 S.W. 2nd Ave. After breakfast, the group will get a good spot to view the Chamber Parade.

Following the parade there will be a Fourth of July Celebration Picnic at the Center, 200 S.W. Lakeshore Drive. Sign up at the Community Center’s front desk for the day’s events. The bus will have limited runs into town on the Fourth, make sure to inquire about the schedule.

Dinner and Music

The Estacada Community Center will hold a $6 dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 5. Coffee is an additional dollar per person. For the menu, call 503-630-7454. Hang around for music from Estacada’s own Classic Country Band from 6-8 p.m.

Spirit Mountain Casino Trip

A bus to Spirit Mountain Casino leaves at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8. It returns around 4 p.m. Stop by the Estacada Community Center or call 503-630-7454 to reserve a seat. Transportation costs $20 a person. Eight people must sign up for the trip to happen.

The next meeting of the Clackamas County Chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 22 at the Atkinson Memorial Church, 710 Sixth Street, Oregon City. “Doin’ Time in the Homo No Mo’ Halfway House” will be screened during the meeting. Grief Share

The Grief Share group helps those who have lost a loved one find comfort and acceptance and to find the joy that remains in their lives. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. The group now meets from 2-3:30 p.m. Mondays at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church. For more information, call 503-630-5484.

AA offers hope

The Estacada friendship group of AA offers hope and help for the alcoholic who still suffers. Meetings are held from 7-8:30 p.m. every Monday and Friday at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Community Hall, 297 N. Al-Anon and Alateen

If someone’s drinking bothers you, Al-Anon and Alateen can help. Meetings are available just a 20 minute drive from Estacada at Eastridge Church, 14100 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas. Estacada Football Camp

High school students planning on playing football this fall are invited to go to football camp 4:30-7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday July 7-11.

Participants will meet daily in the Estacada High School Weight Room.

The camp is free to attend. For more information, go to the pre-camp parent meeting 6 p.m. Sunday, July 6 in the High School Weight Room. The meeting will cover information about summer camp and the upcoming football season and there will be an opportunity for questions.

Camp Rilea Competitive Camp

The following week, the football team will travel to Camp Rilea in Warrenton. for a full-contact competitive camp Saturday-Wednesday July 12-16. The cost for this camp is $150.
