Team is raising funds to compete in tournaments

The 10U Estacada fast pitch softball team had a great run last summer, taking first and second place in two tournaments.

Sponsors are being sought to ensure that the team can continue competing at that level this year.

Aside from playing league ball, the team also represents Estacada in tournament games throughout the summer. Many of its members then go on to play softball in the fall.

Team supporter Suzanne Tolman said the fourth and fifth graders who comprise the team are dedicated to the sport.

“A handful of these girls practice throughout the winter and are striving to excel in this sport,” Tolman said. “They play rain, snow or shine, and as we found out this winter, they want to practice even if it’s 20 degrees out.”

Members of the team are engaging in a variety of fundraising activities in order to pay for their participation in tournaments.

“At this time we are doing a flower bulb fundraiser, we are planning a few car washes, and a few other fundraisers,” Tolman said. “We appreciate any and all support. These girls are not only dedicated to becoming great players, they are also dedicated to trying to earn money to be able to play more tournament games. The more money they make and the more sponsors they get, the more tournament games they will be able to sign up for.”
