Callahan breaks his own record in javelin
Estacada High graduate Tyler Callahan, a sophomore at Mt. Hood CC, extended the school record in the javelin with a winning throw of 223-feet-7-inches at the Clackamas CC Cougar Open last weekend. He also finished fourth in the discus.
L.T. Avants was second in the 400 by .02 hundredths. He also joined Damascus Christian graduate Caleb Coe to run legs on the winning 400 and 1,600 relays.
? On the womens side, freshman McKenzie Warren picked up wins in the discus (137-6), the shot put (40-5) and the hammer throw (158-6). Megan Nelson made it a clean sweep for the Saints throwers by winning the javelin (113-0), while Tori Dixson was second in the shot put and discus.
The Saints went 1-2-3 in the 100, led by Kristi Kachel in 13.20 seconds. She also won the 200 (27.77) and the long jump (16-0 1/4), while Christa Collmer finished second in the 400. Molly Scoles won the 400 hurdles (1:05.09), while Charlene Manning was second in the high hurdles.
MacMurray finishes third at Twilight meet
Estacada Highs Chris MacMurray, a freshman at Whitworth, finished third in the 1,500-meter race at the Whitworth Twilight meet last Thursday.
Youngs finishes fifth at Corvallis race
Nate Youngs, 32, of Boring placed fifth overall at the Corvallis Sprint Triathlon on Saturday. He covered the course in 1 hour, 3 minutes, 49 seconds, and had the quickest transition times in the exchange zones of anyone in the field.
Ray Fiori, 37, of Albany won the event in 1:01:01.
