NORTH MARION The Estacada girls track team scored first-place points in half of the events during a three-way Tri-Valley League meet against Molalla and North Marion last week.
Rookie Ashley Liber scored two wins in the discus (79-feet-7-inches) and javelin (91-11 1/2), while Sarah Davies won the triple jump (32-5) and tied teammate Tori Johnson for the best mark in the high jump (4-10). Johnson was the teams high scorer for the meet after adding a pair of second-place efforts in the 200-and 400-meter races.
The Rangers picked up a pair of wins in the distance races with Kayla Searis taking the 1,500 (5:35.89) and Mariah Johnson winning the 3,000 (11:41.88), while Genna Settle won the 200 (25.87). Estacada also won the 400 relay (50.47).
Justin Rich led the boys team with wins in the shot put (50-7) and discus (157-10), while Gary Zheol won a tight battle in the triple jump (38-10 1/2), beating Molallas Landon DeRosiers by a finger length. Ryan Green and Dean Unruh were the only pole vaulters on the day, sharing first-place honors by clearing 8 feet.
Micah Jury added a win on the track in the 300 hurdles (43.31), and Estacada also had the fastest 400 relay (46.60).
Estacada hosts LaSalle and North Marion in a league meet Wednesday, May 8.
