Callahan ties javelin record
Estacada High graduate Tyler Callahan tied his school record in the javelin with a winning heave of 223-feet-7-inches at the Titan Twilight meet Thursday in Eugene. His mark is also the best among junior colleges in the nation this spring.
Softball team holds early lead
The Estacada softball team got out to a 2-0 lead over No. 10-ranked Madras on Thursday with Madison Haga going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored out of the lead-off spot. Emma Burke had the Rangers other hit with an RBI-single.
Madras overcame the early deficit with a 10-run burst in the third inning and went on to win 15-2.
The Rangers (1-16) host Madras at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 6.
? The Estacada baseball team dropped a 4-1 decision to North Marion at the start of the week and fell 7-5 and 3-1 in a two-game series against LaSalle Prep. The Rangers (5-12) host Molalla on at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 2.
Ranger riders finish third at meet
The Estacada equestrian team finished third out of three large-school teams at a Northeast Regional meet last week. The Rangers scored 534 total points, while Sandy won with a 731 total.
Breanna Stout and Courtney Helgeson combined for a 1-2 finish in the Hand Trail exercise with Stout scoring a 92 to win the event. Helgeson won the Driving competition with a 75. Estacada also picked up first-place points in the Hand-Obstacle Relay with riders Kara Kammers, Angela Krueger, Danielle Moser and Kaitlyn Mixon. Estacada also won the Freestyle 6+ event.
Krueger finished second in Pole Bending with a time of 22.38 seconds, while Jessica Christenson was second in Individual Flags with a run of 9.27 seconds. Danielle Goodrich was second in Dressage with a score of 147.5 points.
