Former Rangers place at Twilight


Estacada High graduate Chancey Summers, a sophomore a Oregon, cleared 5-feet-10-inches to finish second in the high jump competition at the Oregon Twilight meet Friday. She tied for the best mark on the day, but finished second based on an extra miss at an earlier height.

Tyler Callahan, a sophomore at Mt. Hood CC, finished sixth in the javelin with a heave of 211-5. He got his best mark on his first trip down the runway, putting him briefly in second place after the opening round of throws.

Track team takes fourth at Gladstone

The Estacada girls track team scored 69 points to finish fourth out of 11 teams at the Dick Baker Invitational at Gladstone High on Saturday. Genna Settle powered the team with wins in the 100-meter dash (12.39) and 200 (25.24). She also made it a hat trick, but came up six inches short in the long jump and settled for third place. She accounted for 26 team points.

Mariah Johnson was third in the 3,000 and Kayla Searis was fourth in the 800. In the field, Ashley Liber finished fourth in the javelin and Sarah Davies picked up fifth-place points in the triple jump and high jump.

On the boys side, Justin Rich won the shot put 49-feet-10-inches by two feet and took third in the discus.
