Seaside rolls to 3-0 with shutout over Rangers

Estacada’s search for its first football win fell flat on Friday. The Rangers were outdone by Seaside, 35-0.

The Seaside defense was daunting all night and used its speed and strength to leave Estacada with no answers. Seaside’s athleticism prevented the Rangers from moving the ball and gaining any momentum.

Defensively, Estacada played better than what the score indicated. The Rangers came up with several stops and forced a number of punts. They had allowed just 21 points midway through the fourth quarter. The Estacada offense turned the ball over on downs deep in its own territory to set up the final two Seaside touchdowns.

Considering the opponent, the Rangers played as well as anyone could have expected. Seaside graduated just seven players from last year’s team, and that has been reflected so far this season.

Seaside has not allowed a point through its first three games, outscoring opponents by a combined 143-0.

Estacada’s best and final chance to claim a non-conference win comes at home Friday against Yamhill-Carlton, which is also winless in three games this season.
