With Estacada being on the brink of elimination at the 12U JBO County Tournament, the Ranger bats came through in a big way in their game against Gladstone on Friday afternoon.
Estacada tacked on seven runs in the third inning as the Rangers were able to 10-run Gladstone in four innings, winning by a score of 12-2.
"It was absolutely awesome to hit the ball like we did. That is what we have done all year and it has been one of the biggest keys to our success," Estacada coach Ken Riedel said.
The Rangers took advantage of Gladstone mistakes in the first inning to grab the early lead. Andrew Riedel scored off a Gladiator error and Cory James scored moments later on a balk to put the Rangers up 2-0. Back-to-back RBI hits later in the frame by Waylon Riedel and Cody White allowed the Rangers to extend their lead to 4-0.
Estacada starts the state tournament against Stayton at 12 p.m. Thursday in Hillsboro.
