Stimson lumber mill workers put out fire
A small fire broke out at the Stimson Lumber Mill near Hagg Lake Tuesday afternoon, but workers on-site were able to put it out before firefighters arrived.
The fire began in the powerhouse of the mill, near Hagg Lake, when a spark ignited sawdust used to power the boilers in the plant.
Stimson crews pulled away portions of a wall and extinguished the fire. Crews from the Gaston Rural Fire District entered the building and checked for extension of the fire inside the wall with a thermal imaging camera while Stimson employees extinguished hot spots.
Gaston and Forest Grove personnel stood by at the scene for about an hour.
