With the 2013 Washington County Fair and the 2013 Oregon International Air Show scheduled for the same weekend next year, those concerned or interested will have the opportunity to listen to more discussion on the matter starting today at 4:30 p.m. during the Washington County Fair Board’s regular meeting.

The double-booking surprised many citizens, event participants and even some fair board members when the fair board announced the two major Hillsboro events would be taking place on the same weekend across the street from one another next July. Concerns about traffic and crowds mingling for both events, air show noise upsetting fair animals and fair-goers and the scheduling process and complaints about the fair board itself have made the last weekend in July 2013 a topic of discussion in Washington County.

While tonight’s meeting doesn’t offer the public the opportunity to weigh in on the controversy, it likely could shed some light on what the double-booked weekend will mean for both events — and how fair supporters and participants can plan for next year’s fair.
