Student struck by school bus on Pacific Avenue

A 13-year-old student was struck and injured by a school bus Wednesday morning in a Pacific Avenue crosswalk.

Forest Grove police said the student, whose name was not released, was not seriously injured. The student was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

Police said the accident happened at about 8:38 a.m. when a Mid-Columbia Bus Co. driver was turning west onto Pacific Avenue from Mountain View Lane. The driver, 57-year-old Kenneth Kemper of Forest Grove, told police he did not see the student until the moment of impact. He immediately stopped the bus and provided first aid to the injured student.

None of the 20 children on the bus at the time was injured. Kemper was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
