Students serve up subs for Civil War

Most seniors sleep in on Saturday mornings, but some Forest Grove High School students were up early on Nov. 24. Seniors Alexxya Aleman and Darren Schrader were just a couple of the teens who showed up at 7 a.m. to help make submarine sandwiches for their grad night fundraiser. Parents set up an assembly line in the school’s home economics room and kept the flow going until more than 200 subs were made. It was the first time the group made subs for the annual Civil War football game, said parent Maria Aleman. The big sub sale happens just before the Super Bowl in February, with all proceeds going to support the FGHS grad night event, which this year will serve about 400 students.
