Brittany Hickert, a 19-year-old woman from Cornelius, fell to her death from an apartment complex in Portland’s Pearl District in the early morning on New Years Day.

Portland police officers and medical personnel responded to the Broadstone Esno Apartments, 1400 N.W. Marshall St. in Portland, at 2:55 a.m. Jan. 1 and found Hickert dead after she reportedly fell from the sixth floor.

Detectives believe the fall was either an accident or suicide, and are not expecting to discover any criminal activity. After talking with her boyfriend and family, Portland police said there were some indications that Hickert may have had suicidal thoughts.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances.
