Cornelius robbery under investigation

Cornelius police officers are investigating a robbery at the city’s Walgreens store, 115 N. 20th Ave., on Sunday, March 10.

Officers are still searching for a suspect who reportedly entered the Walgreens at 9:45 p.m. wearing a black ski mask and demanded money from an employee, who opened the cash register and stepped away.

The unidentified suspect took money from the register, putting it in a plastic bag. He then exited the store and was last seen running westbound along the storefront.

According to Joe Noffsinger of the Cornelius Police Department, the suspect did not reveal any weapons.

He was wearing a black pullover ski mask, a dark-colored long-sleeve sweatshirt and dark grey or faded black slacks, white ankle socks and black sport shoes.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has other information on this case is asked to contact the Cornelius Police Department at 503-359-1881.
