Local libraries are a cool spot for kids and adults alike looking to get a break from the heat. Here’s what’s on tap this week – from clowns and game shows to historic artifacts. July 25 Two libraries are featuring the side-splitting antics of Buster the clown in Buster's Red Nose Revue – a show for children from kindergarten through middle school. Buster will visit the Forest Grove Public Library at 11 a.m. and the Banks Public Library from 2 to 3 p.m. July 27 An open mic at the Forest Grove City Library is the perfect spot for teens to join adults and share short essays, stories or poems before an audience. Mary Slocum is a featured author at this 10:30 a.m. to noon event. July 31 Wacky Wednesday promises a lineup guaranteed to turn any kid into a know-it-all with its Smarty Pants Game Show at 1 p.m. in the Jessie May Community Hall in North Plains. Kids of all ages are invited to learn about healthy eating, conserving energy, bike safety and more. At 3 p.m. in the Cornelius Public Library, a Washington County Museum program will introduce kids of all ages to some of Oregon's earliest residents, bringing along Kalapuya artifacts and interesting stories.
