Its truck and tractor time in Banks

Annual summer event gets under way for 68th year

Get set for some mechanical madness in Banks this weekend.

The 68th annual Banks BBQ and Truck & Tractor Pull happens at Sunset Park in the center of town, where food, poker tournaments, a car show, tractor pulls, kids games and rides, a parade, a combine destruction derby and music are on tap Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 to 18.

Everything kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday when the hamburger stand and beer garden open. The annual combine destruction derby winds things up at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

In between there will be an all-you-can-eat breakfast served up by the Banks Lions Club (8 to 11 a.m. Saturday and 7 to 11 a.m. Sunday), the big parade at 11 a.m. Sunday and a grease pole and frog jumping contest at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Grandstand admission prices are $10 to $12 for adults; $5 to $6 for children ages 6 to 16; and $25 to $30 for a family pass. Children under age 5 get in free.

Pets are not allowed in the park during the event.
