Day of the Dead closes market season

Last week’s Forest Grove Farmers Market was the last of the season and had a decidedly autumnal feel to it thanks, in part, to the chilly weather but also because of the annual Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration.

The festive Mexican holiday honors loved ones who have died through the construction of private altars, using sugar skulls, flowers and the favorite foods and beverages of the deceased. It was a particularly busy week for the 11-year-old nonprofit group, which moved from its space at the corner of 19th Avenue and Elm Street to its new office at 1836A Main Street, in between Urban Decanter and Izgara Restaurant.
