Police, fire personnel drill near Times-Litho building in Forest Grove

by: NEWS-TIMES PHOTOS: JOHN SCHRAG - Members of the Forest Grove Police Department escorted local firefighters into the Times-Litho building during a mock emergency response drill last Friday, while Police Chief Janie Schutz, Fire Chief Michael Kinkade and Fire Marshal Dave Nemeyer monitor events inside the building. Part of being an emergency responder means honing skills you hope are never needed. That was the case last Friday morning in Forest Grove when members of the city’s police and fire departments trained for responding to an “active shooter” incident.

Fire Marshal Dave Nemeyer said the drill, which included medical technicians entering the buidling under armed escorts, was designed so that local police and fire officials “can be better prepared for the unthinkable event like we have unfortunately seen in other parts of the country.”by: NEWS-TIMES PHOTOS: JOHN SCHRAG - Police Chief Janie Schutz, Fire Chief Michael Kinkade and Fire Marshal Dave Nemeyer monitor events inside the building.

The training was held at the former Times-Litho building on A Street, across from Wells Fargo Bank, which is now owned by the city.
