As folks browse the businesses around Forest Grove in the weeks leading up to Christmas, they’ll want to watch for shops that display the “Official Forest Grove Elf” sign in their windows.

An “elf” sign indicates that the business is participating in a new City Club of Forest Grove promotion — called Santa’s Official Forest Grove Elf Program — that directs shoppers toward items their friends and loved ones really want. Simply locate the elf sign, go into the shop or artisan booth displaying it and ask to sign up, adding your name to a 3-by-5 card. Do your browsing and list items for your personal wish list on the card (include the item description, price and date of your visit).

“Elves,” aka proprietors and clerks, will take it from there. They’ll place your card in a file box and hand you a business card with an elf sticker on the back. Give the business cards from shops where you’re registered to Santa, and voila! Santa will automatically know where to find the goods on your wish list.

Participating businesses include Urban Decanter, The Friendly Vine, Van Dyke Appliances, Ace Hardware, Mainline Trains, The Accidental Bookmaker, Periscope Books & Tutoring, EsotericStuff, 3 Layer Quilts, A Framer’s Touch, Heirloom Antiques, Connie’s Cafe & Deli, Sweet Pea Treasures, Corner Antiques.
