Elves and pirates stage Christmas fun for families

STAGES Performing Arts Youth Academy offers two shows of “A Pirate’s Christmas” Saturday, Dec. 7. The 9 a.m. show includes breakfast, the 1 p.m. show includes tea. Best suited for children ages 3 to 10, accompanied by an adult, the one-act musical, which invites audience participation, will be presented at The River House at Rood Bridge Park, 4000 SE Rood Bridge Road, in Hillsboro. Symphonic choir presents Christmas favorites

The Oregon Chorale offers two shows of “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” a concert of popular and familiar Christmas classics, on Sunday, Dec. 8. The 50-voice symphonic choir, based in Hillsboro, is directed by Bernd R. Kuehn. Performances are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Hillsboro High School, 3285 SE Rood Bridge Rd. Bilingual sing-along features Santa story

L.E.S.T.A. (Learn English/Spanish Through the Arts) offers a Christmas sing-along in two languages at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. The only bilingual theater company in Washington County, LESTA presents Mexican and American Christmas songs wrapped in a holiday story. No knowledge of Spanish is necessary to enjoy the show and audience members are invited to attend dressed as Christmas characters. The sing-along is free. Donations are welcome.
