Here you go a-wassailing

Friends of the Forest Grove Library hosts its annual Wassail Party from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Free warm cider and other treats will be available at the library, 2114 Pacific Ave., in honor of the holiday season. Wassail, a mulled cider traditionally associated with Yuletide, was part of an ancient Southern England drinking ritual intended to ensure a good apple harvest the next year.

Santa photos raise funds for energy assistance

Santa Claus will be visiting West Oregon Electric Cooperative (WOEC) to help raise funds for the agency’s “Care to Share” energy assistance program. He will be available for photographs on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13 from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the WOEC office, 652 Rose Ave., Vernonia.

All proceeds will go to help families in the WOEC coverage area with their wintertime electric bills. Prices range from $5 to $15.

WOEC is a not-for-profit electric utility providing service to the rural areas of Columbia, Clatsop, Washington and Yamhill counties.

Farm Christmas bazaar open ’til Saturday

The Pruitt’s Farm annual Christmas bazaar featuring products created, crafted and grown by locals, is open until Saturday, Dec. 14. They’re open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 39470 S.W. Geiger Road in Cornelius.
