Farm Bureau offers scholarships

Each year the Washington County Farm Bureau offers a variety of scholarships to local students planning to continue their education.

High school seniors enrolling in an Oregon school of higher education and planning a career in agriculture, education/teaching, or nursing are eligible for $1,000 scholarships.

Additionally, there are two scholarships for students interested in vocational careers, including diesel mechanics, welding, nurse’s aides, teacher’s aides and nursery and greenhouse careers.

Students pursuing degrees at Oregon State University’s School of Agriculture are eligible for $3,000 scholarships through Washington County Agriculture Education. Among the requirements are being a junior, senior or fifth-year student earning a degree in horticulture, soil science, agri-business management, veterinary, animal husbandry or nursery.

The deadline for all scholarships is April 1.

Application forms are available at high school counseling centers or from the Washington County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee. Contact Marie Finegan at 503-648-9442.
