Congresswoman pledges to fight for veterans, seniors, unemployed

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici has filed her candidacy for reelection to the U.S. Congress with the Oregon secretary of state’s office. A Washington County Democrat, Bonamici is currently serving her first full term.

“It’s been an honor to serve the constituents of the First Congressional District over the last two years. There is a lot of work still to be done, and I am asking for support today so I can continue my work for Oregonians,” said Bonamici.

Oregon’s First Congressional District includes Washington, Yamhill, Columbia and Clatsop counties and parts of Multnomah County.

Bonamici pledged to “stand up for seniors, veterans, working families and those who are still seeking employment” if she is reelected. “My work will continue on behalf of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) equality and women who do not earn equal pay,” she added.

“I am focused on education from early childhood through higher education, and I’m working to make college more accessible and affordable.”
