Grendel’s restaurant in downtown Forest Grove will soon become The King’s Head.

Owner Jarrod Sherwood has sold Grendel’s, 2004 Main St., to a group of four people — Cassandra Johnston, Wayne Cree, Les Coleman and Jennie Coleman — who intend to repurpose the eatery into an English-style pub, said Jeff King, the city’s economic development manager.

Jennie Coleman said Tuesday that two of the owners (Les and Wayne) “were born and raised in England.”

The foursome hopes to “bring traditional English dishes and great atmosphere to the town of Forest Grove and surrounding areas,” Jennie said, adding the new owners intend to bring back Grendel’s head chef Sue Stuck.

“We look forward to serving this community by pouring pints and dishing up pies — traditional meat pies, that is.”

The revamped restaurant anticipates a soft opening around the end of April, Jennie noted. The King’s Head will share a booth with Ballad Towne Billiards at the Forest Grove Farmers Market this spring and summer.
