Burn bans are in effect throughout Washington County and due to weather conditions and fire danger.

While northwestern Oregon’s wildfire season typically starts later than the rest of the state, recent fires indicate it’s starting early this year.

The county ban includes backyard and agricultural burning, but not recreational fires in fire pits and barbecues, or ceremonial/religious fires, which require permits from the local fire department.

In addition, fireworks, exploding targets, metal cutting/grinding/welding, and open fires (except at designated locations) are all banned in the Forest Grove, Astoria and Tillamook Forest protection districts, as is smoking — except in closed vehicles on improved roads — and motor vehicle use, except on improved roads or in designated areas.
