Michael Cerbone replaces Dick Reynolds in slot

Cornelius city officials have selected Michael Cerbone to replace Dick Reynolds as community development director.

City Manager Rob Drake announced Cerbone’s appointment Aug. 6. He begins his new job Aug. 26. Reynolds retired earlier this year.

Cerbone “brings a balance of private and public development and management experience” to the position, Drake said. He has worked the last eight years as planning services manager for the Cardno WRG Consulting firm, and before that he helped private industry clients prepare applications for residential, industrial, commercial and public infrastructure projects, including comprehensive plan amendments, text changes, zoning amendments, annexations, design review and historic and environmental review.

Cerbone holds a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Oregon State University. Previously, he worked for the city of Salem as assistant urban planning administrator and for the city of Prineville as planning director. He also served as a field services representative for the Oregon Downtown Development Association.

He has been a member of The Wetland Conservancy Board and the Woodstock Neighborhood Association Land Use Committee in Portland.

“Michael’s blend of private and public development experience will serve the Cornelius community well,” said Drake. “He brings a strong customer service ethic to the community development director position.”
