Paving crews under contract with Washington County’s Department of Land Use & Transportation will begin paving work soon on a number of major county roads.

County road paving projects will continue through October.

The county and its contractor, Baker Rock Resources, will work together to make sure traffic moves as smoothly and safely as possible during road maintenance work. Advisory signs will be posted before the work begins.

Roads will remain open, but may be limited to one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Expect up to 15-minute delays and use alternate routes if possible.

The following roads in the local area are scheduled to be paved:

n Verboort Road (Cornelius-Schefflin to Martin): Sept. 10 to 18

n Tongue Lane (Highway 219 to Iowa Hill): Oct. 3 to 9

n Old Highway 47 (Scoggins Valley to 835 feet south): Oct. 10 to 21

n Scoggins Valley Road (Highway 47 to West Shore): Oct. 10 to 21

The dates listed are approximate and subject to change due to weather or other unforeseeable circumstances. For the latest paving schedule, visit
