North Plains officers make 30 stops during holiday patrols
North Plains Police Department officers arrested two people and stopped more than 30 cars during a traffic enforcement operation during the Christmas and New Year's holidays, the agency announced this week.
Police partnered with the Oregon Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to provide extra patrols during the holidays.
Officers arrested two drivers for driving under the influence of intoxicants, issued one minor in possession charge, and stopped 30 drivers for traffic violations, police said.
Officers looked for impaired drivers and drivers that were speeding, following too closely and using mobile communication devices.
Officers are reminding drivers to designate a sober driver, slow down, avoid distractions and allow adequate following distances.
