All-female cast headlines Julius Caesar outdoors
Thursday, Aug. 1, western Washington County welcomes the all-female performance of a world-premier adaptation of
William Shakespeares Julius Caesar.
The classic play tells the story of the Roman dictator and his infamous friend-turned-traitor (Et tu, Brute?). It involves assassinations, ghosts, corrupt politicians and bribes and has been updated to include details from todays headlines.
Hillsboros Bag&Baggage Productions will launch its sixth season with the outdoor, in-the-round production which places theater-goers in the very center of the intrigue, betrayal and treachery at the heart of Shakespeares greatest historical play.
Scott Palmer, founding artistic director of Bag&Baggage, adapted and directed the show and calls it one of our most ambitious and visually powerful productions ever.
Palmer said the seating arrangement The furthest away youre going to be from the action is 15 feet along with closure of the adjacent street, will all ensure the dialogue is easily heard outdoors.
B&B favorites Cyndi Rhoads (Julius Caesar), Cassie Greer (Marc Antony) and Theresa Park (Octavius) as well as eight other actresses are sure to enchant audiences with their performances in this psychological drama.
This is a perfect way to start off our 2013-14 season with a bang, notes Palmer.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at the Tom Hughes Civic Center Plaza. Tickets for the Aug.1-17 run can be purchased at bagnbaggage.org or by calling 503-345-9590.Add a comment
