School district hires HR director
Pat Ramirez comes to Forest Grove from Woodburn
The Forest Grove School District has a new human resources director.
School board members approved the hiring of Pat Ramirez at their Jan. 13 meeting. Superintendent Yvonne Curtis said the position, formerly filled by retired Assistant Superintendent Dave Willard, has been vacant for 18 months because of budget cuts in the 2012-13 school year.
Ramirez, current HR director for the Woodburn School District, was selected from among three candidates. She will transition between the two districts for a short time before beginning her new job with us, Curtis said.
Over the last year and a half, Curtis added, the HR job has been shared by Assistant Superintendent John ONeill and Business Manager Mike Schofield. Its time for them to focus on the big projects they have on their plates, and for us to move forward, she said.
Ramirez began her career in El Paso, Texas, and has worked as an educational leader in the Salem-Keizer and Woodburn school districts since moving to Oregon five years ago. Ramirez has an extensive background in education, working as a teacher and [as] an administrator at the middle and high school levels, said Curtis. She has also served as a curriculum director and specialist and as a federal programs coordinator.
According to Curtis, folks who have worked closely with Ramirez describe her as smart, knowledgeable, creative and an effective educational leader.
Her personal strengths and skill sets will contribute to an already strong administrative team, as well as help us better serve our students, families and staff, Curtis told the board. Were eager to have her with us.
Ramirez will meet board members and members of the public at the Jan. 27 school board meeting. Shell start her new job in Forest Grove in February.
