Support of football players appreciated

On behalf of the Forest Grove High School Varsity Football Team, under the direction of coach Dwight Jensen, the Forest Grove Noon Rotary Club would like to thank the local businesses and community members for sponsoring the senior players’ photos and displaying them during the season.

The sponsoring business or community members with their senior player include Ace Hardware (Tyrone Washington), Eric Burbano Dentistry (Jake Lebrun), CIMA Services (Agustin Zamora), Columbia Community Bank (Nick Carter), Geoff Faris Dentistry (Elizabeth Dahlke), Rob Foster (Dustin True), Lois Hornberger (Cody Schutts), Jeff Hoyt (Adam Schweitzer), Mike Hundley Insurance (Kyle Haag), Greg Nemchick Dentistry (Sam Fataua), NewsTimes (Edgar Alvarado), Parr Lumber (Drew Pryor), Joe Post Law Office (Lane Gravley), Tim Schauermann (Ricardo Miranda), Van Dyke Appliances (Steven Izquierdo) and WSC Insurance (Kevin Kiss).

The proceeds received from the sponsors will be distributed back into the community by the Forest Grove Noon Rotary Club to help support local youth programs and athletic teams.

At the annual football awards night the photos, framed by A Framer’s Touch, will be presented to each of the senior players as a lasting remembrance for their participation and dedication to the program. It’s a win-win situation for the players and the community. Go Viks!

Community can support only one local paper

To the owner of 1910 Main Street Bistro:

I want you to know how I feel about your coupon/advertisement in The Leader. My wife and I really like eating in your restaurant — the quality of food and service is outstanding, and we want to support local restaurants. We have clipped out the 1910 Main coupon in The Leader.

However, I want you to know that your coupon is not the reason we frequent 1910. We would eat at 1910 without the Coupon in the Leader, and from now on we will only use coupons that are in the News-Times or the Hillsboro Tribune or Hillsboro Argus.

I was surprised that Van Dyke Appliance also had an advertisement in The Leader. So when the owner delivered an Energy Star freezer to our home I asked him about it. He said that he was not aware that his paid advertisements in the Hillsboro Argus would automatically be placed in The Leader. He assured me that he would make sure that that would not continue. He is a strong supporter of the News-Times and does not think that our Community can support, with advertisements, two papers.

I would hope that you would consider continuing to advertise in the Hillsboro Argus, not The Leader, and the Hillsboro Tribune, if you want larger exposure than the News-Times.
