There's never a good time for a prominent nonprofit organization to cut loose its executive director, but doing so on the eve of planning its largest fundraiser of the year creates particular challenges.

So, it was all the more amazing that the Forest Grove Chamber of Commerce not only pulled off its annual Spring Dinner and Auction on Saturday, but did it in grand style.

The record number of donations for the auction offered tangible evidence that this community still values its chamber. The list of notable attendees, including Cornelius City Manager Rob Drake, Tuality Healthcare president Dick Stenson and the top brass for Henningsen Cold Storage, showed that support runs deep. And the fact that people left the event smiling is proof that current board of directors is up to the challenge of getting the organization, which is so vital to the local economy, back on track.

Well done.
