Firefighters come through for community

After a successful event, the most difficult job is sometimes the cleanup. With the 2013 Corn Roast over, the Forest Grove/Cornelius Chamber of Commerce put out a call on Sept. 19 for volunteers to help dismantle the tents and put them away.

Members of the Forest Grove Fire Department called and said they would help.

Without the support of the Forest Grove Fire Department, this job would have been much more difficult. Capt. Tony Carter and firefighters Ted Penge and Jordan Ruiz responded, and the chamber greatly appreciated their help.

On behalf of the Forest Grove/Cornelius Chamber of Commerce, gentlemen, thank you for your community service.

Howard Sullivan Executive Director

Forest Grove/Cornelius Chamber of Commerce

Lesson learned: don’t put off medical procedures

Hello to the fine people of Forest Grove and the surrounding communities. This is Fletch from the Forest Grove post office.

Just wanted to say a heart-warmed thanks to all who have kept me in their prayers and positive thoughts. For all the cards, books, excellent food and help with driving, etc. Thank you one and all.

My illness could and should have been prevented. Yet due to my awkwardness and fright, I kept putting the procedure off.

Please, everyone, if you are in the older age bracket, or if it is in your family history, by all means get a colonoscopy!

I will end with that. And once again say my many, many thanks, to all my family and friends in the local area.

Fletch Grylls
