Wow! Theatre In The Grove has done it again!
The current production of 'Chicago' ranks TITG with any of the local, regional, semi-professional or professional theater groups in the Portland Metro area.
Ken Centers has once again shown that he can direct a hit. He has put together a group of people who not only can act, but also are talented singers and dancers.
The choreography by Ember Eastman shows great ingenuity while still retaining the excitement of Bob Fossee.
Jenny Hauser and Jodi Coffman give wonderful interpretations of the music and lyrics of John Kander and Freb Ebb as they are backed up by very professional 13-piece orchestra conducted by Justin Canfield.
James Grimes, who plays Billy Flynn, is becoming quite a regular at TITG. What a versatile actor. Just last year he played the crazed 'Renfield' in 'Dracula' and previously starred in 'Joseph And The Technicolor Dreamcoat.'
Pruella Centers (Matron Mama Morton), Britney Spady (Mary Sunshine) and Brandon Weaver (Amos Hart) all give performances that show why so many directors cast them in TITG productions. The show could not have worked without the young people who make up the ensemble. The singing and dancing 1s very well done.
Keep it up TITG. Your seasons just keep getting better and better.
