Sneak peek offers glimpse inside the studio

Forty artists throughout the area will open their private art studios to the public next month for the third annual Washington County Artists Open Studio Tour. The free two-day, self-guided tour is on Oct. 20 and 21, but the Washington County Museum is offering impatient art fans a sneak peek this month.

The preview, which offers museum goers a chance to meet local artists and preview their artwork, runs from Sept. 8-29 at the Washington County Museum. The exhibit will kick off with an artist reception, held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 8.

Artists will present a variety of mediums from oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings to ceramic, encaustic, fiber & fabric, glass, jewelry, metal works, photography, sculpture and more.

The Washington County Open Studios Tour is a project of the Washington County Art Alliance and was made possible this year by a grant from the Oregon Cultural Trust and Cultural Coalition.

Visit washcoart.org for artist information and download a studio tour map. You can also pick up a catalog of the event which includes artwork and a map of the participating studios at the studios themselves.

The Sneak Preview Exhibit & Sale is open Monday through Saturday Sept. 8-29; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washington County Museum, 17677 N.W. Springville Road.
