Farm store hosts 'Savor the Summer'


Photo Credit: NEWS-TIMES FILE PHOTO - Big Ron Sabin of Cornelius will play at the Unger Farm Store this summer, where they are now hosting music and serving wine and beer on select summer nights.The Unger Farm Store, 34880 S.W. Johnson School Road in Cornelius, is now a music venue. The Ungers are hosting their Savor the Summer Series with weekend music, food, and wine and beer.

Friday, Aug. 22, Big Ron Sabin will bring his classic array of tunes to the farm, and Saturday, Aug. 23, the Born Again Hooligans will delight audiences with their Hawaiian sound. Big Ron Sabin has become a local music venue staple with his good-timin’ attitude and extensive mental catalog of tunes.

The Born Again Hooligans is an acoustic duo featuring Travis Stine and Alex Taimanao, two former Pacific University students who grew up in Hawai’i. The two rejuvenate the current hits with their guitar and ukulele.

Music runs 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and activities run 4 to 9 p.m.

The farm store staff is also now serving local beers, wines and hard ciders. Snacks, sandwiches, salads and berry treats will also be available for purchase.

Friday, Aug. 29, the bluegrass band Buckwheat will play at the store. Big Ron Sabin will be back Saturday, Aug. 30. Haris Blackwood will bring his guitar and vocal talents Sept. 5 and Nashville recording artist Melody Guy will play Sept. 6.
