Medieval fair returns to Grand Lodge lawn

CHASE ALLGOOD - Faire in the Grove will be back on the McMenamins Grand Lodge lawn this Saturday and Sunday in the form of Fairegrove.Residents in Forest Grove can step back in time for a day of revelry at the Faire in the Grove this Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, at McMenamins Grand Lodge, 3505 Pacific Ave.

The Barony of Dragon’s Mist, an organization in Washington County dedicated to researching and re-creating European history of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, as well as Pacific University’s history department, invite the public to experience a medieval affair.

On the vast front lawn of the Grand Lodge, eventgoers will be transported back in time to Fairegrove, a medieval village, and can enjoy seeing and learning some of the history behind life in the middle ages and beyond into the Renaissance.

Both days will feature live heavy-armored combat, rapier showcases, dancing, music, storytelling, merchants selling all kinds of wares, juggling, medieval cooking, textile demos, book binding, leather working, strolling musicians and much more.

The fair is free to attend.

Roving musicians, singers and dancers will add to the ambience, so everyone is encouraged to grab a pint and stroll around this living history museum. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
