New faces grace victory lane
Fans at Sunset Speedway Park saw some new faces in the winners circle on Saturday night, with the exception of one classification.
The Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series returned to action last weekend at Sunset Speedway, as well as the USRA Modifieds, USAC Ford Focus Midgets and 4-Bee divisions.
Midget regular Mitch Hoffsess earned the win in the Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series in his first ever start. Hoffsess led the field from wire to wire to capture his first career Sprint Car victory after so much success in Midgets and Micro Sprints.
Ryan Bothwell wound up finishing in second place and Jake Gillman was third. Theo McCarty was the fourth-place finisher and Shane Youngren completed the top five by finishing in fifth.
Kenny Miller earned his first win of the season in USRA Modifieds to join the long list of drivers in the win column this season. Miller earned the lead on lap 23 and led the rest of the distance, staying in front of the field for the victory.
Steve Suckow was the second-place finisher with Brody Pompe behind in third. Russell Schultz and Donald Schott completed the balance of the top five by finishing fourth and fifth.
The return of the USAC Ford Focus Midgets witnessed Michael Millard earn the victory for his first career win at the Banks bullring. Millard would lead the entire distance for the win, becoming the second driver to win in a Midget event at Sunset Speedway thus far in 2012.
Chase Goetz finished in second and Jared Peterson was the third-place finisher. Garrett Thomas crossed the line in fourth and finishing in fifth place was Todd Hartman.
Johnny Adams returned to victory lane after a brief absence to earn his fifth 4-Bee victory at Sunset Speedway. Adams dominated the feature and led all but one lap of the race, which happened to be the opening circuit.
Mike Keely was in second place in the end, followed by John Gartner. The top five was completed with Barry Lampert and Cody Jones finishing in fourth and fifth.
This weekend, Sunset Speedway Park will have three days full of action in a different form. The venues annual Tractor Pull will take place on Saturday and Sunday, and the Combine Destruction Derby will also be held on Sunday. Fridays events will be announced soon.
