Liberty HS hosts concussion clinic
The Tuality Sports Medicine Program is hosting a special educational meeting on the topic of concussions, treatment and prevention on Wednesday, Sept. 12 in the Liberty High School auditorium.
Getting your bell rung used to be a badge of honor among high school football players. Not anymore. Recent advances in concussion research and concussion education show that a blow to the head can have permanent complications.
The free program, which targets the parents of high school athletes, will begin at 7 p.m. and deal with the following topics: concussion signs and symptoms; evaluation, management and treatment; home care instruction; when to go to the emergency room; return to activity; and what to do with lingering symptoms.
Presenters will include Tualitys certified athletic trainers Shelly Jones, ATC; Kim Lierman, PT, ATC; Angella Fuge-Bond, ATC; Ashlee McKay, ATC; Melissa Reis, ATC; Erin Russell, ATC; and Michael S. Daniel, PhD, professor and director of neuropsychology at Pacific University.
To RSVP for the forum, please call 503-681-1700.
