Open house for sports complex

An open house to dedicate and celebrate the opening of Forest Grove High School’s new athletic complex — which will be known as the Basinski Center — is slated for next week.

The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23. A ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the facility and refreshments will be included in the festivities. The high school is located at 1401 Nichols Lane.

The Basinski Center consists of the school’s new gym, weight room, locker rooms, concessions areas and commons foyer that were constructed with funds from a bond measure passed in 2010. The complex is named after former longtime Forest Grove educator, coach and athletic director Jeff Basinski, who retired in 2005 and died in 2011.
