Homecoming a 'dreamy' proposition for Greyhounds as they get ready to meet Nestucca High School in big football game on Friday
The students at Gaston High School are celebrating the wonderful world of Disney and dreams coming true this week for homecoming.
The festivities kicked off on Monday, when members of the homecoming court were awakened in the morning before school and treated to breakfast. The members of this years court are Kaylee Cummings, Cassie Hughes, Jordan Smith-Martinez, Amber Meeks, Tina Turner, David Boulanger, Jordan Delay, Jordon Endicott, Peter May and Christian Waters.
Tuesdays highlights included a school pep assembly and a court vote, which leads into one of the most notable events of the week this evening. Tonight at 7 p.m., this years homecoming king and queen will be announced in a coronation ceremony in the school gym.
The big homecoming game is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday – Green and Gold Day – when the Greyhounds take on Nestucca. Gaston broke a three-game losing streak last week with a victory against Neah-Kah-Nie, so the team will look to make it two in a row against the Bobcats.
Among the various activities, students are participating in various theme days this week, including twin day, villains against heroes and be your favorite Disney character, keeping with the weeks theme.
Students will conclude the week of celebrations with the annual homecoming dance, which is slated from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the high school.
